SilverAssist Supporting Oasis Senior Advisors in the Fight Against Alzheimer’s and Other Dementias

SilverAssist ended the 2023 year by fundraising and supporting the fight against Alzheimer’s on behalf of the Oasis Senior Advisors Walk to End Alzheimer’s National Team.

The Alzheimer’s Association defines this disease as a degenerative brain disease and says it is the most common form of dementia. According to the Alzheimer’s Association, an estimated 6.7 million Americans age 65 and older are living with Alzheimer’s. With this staggering number of people living with this disease, it is common for a person to either, know someone who has lost a loved one to the disease or know someone who is currently supporting or caring for a person living with Alzheimer’s.

In the senior care industry, Alzheimer’s disease affects a large number of those whom we serve day in and day out. Luckily, there are fundraising events dedicated to supporting the cause and those who are affected by it.

The Walk to End Alzheimer’s is the world’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support, and research.

Walk to End Alzheimer’s with Oasis Senior Advisors National Team

Oasis Senior Advisors formed a Walk to End Alzheimer’s National Team in 2023 to raise funds for the cause and participate in walks across the country. Ray Shafer, Oasis Senior Advisors operations representative, coordinated and led hundreds of Oasis and SilverAssist team members in nationwide fundraising efforts. A total of 44 teams were formed across the country in support of the Oasis National Team. Ray worked closely with team captains to fundraise, donate, and participate in local walks.

Working to support an organization like the Alzheimer’s Association is more than just a job to Ray. “My dad had Alzheimer’s dementia and the Association was so incredibly helpful and supportive to my mom, myself, and my family that being able to give back to the Association and ensure that other families have the support they need is just so important to me,” Ray recalled.

Making a real impact in the senior care industry

Oasis Senior Advisors set out to raise $50,000.00 for the 2023 Walk to End Alzheimer’s. Not only did they hit their goal but they exceeded it by raising $62,969.00! The Oasis National Team had a total of 209 walking participants and 721 individual donations to the cause nationwide. The money raised goes directly to Alzheimer’s care, support, and research through the Alzheimer’s Association

At the heart of SilverAssist, we are on a mission to make a positive impact on the lives of aging adults, simplifying senior life. Whether you are a senior, a family member of an older adult, an employee at a senior living community, a caregiver, or anyone in between, we are honored to have joined Oasis Senior Advisors in support of the fight against Alzheimer’s.
